The LEMIS+ Project helped me - Jacqueline's Story
Posted on 20th September 2018 at 11:27
Jacqueline McAree, 57, from Ardoyne, is a mother of four who enjoyed working and meeting new people.
Jacqueline started working when she left school and was self-employed when her circumstances changed, which resulted in Jacqueline becoming unemployed.
“I really enjoyed keeping busy and meeting new people and wanted to get back into employment”
Jacqueline had been looking for support for over six months, until she heard about the LEMIS+ Project. Wanting to find out more, Jacqueline called into her local LEMIS+ office, Ashton Centre. Not knowing what to expect and feeling quite nervous, Jacqueline got speaking to Kathleen, a LEMIS+ mentor.
“I was excited about learning new things and brushing up on my skills”
Jacqueline got support with her CV, interview technique and job goals and has completed training in customer service. Jacqueline has also brushed up on her I.C.T skills and is due to finish the LEMIS+ Customer Care Academy, opening the door to employment opportunities.
“LEMIS+ has given me the skills and training to find employment in customer service, something that I am passionate about. Not only have I learnt new things but my confidence has increased and I feel ready! To anyone and to especially people around my age, it’s not too late to learn, as you have skills still to offer”.
